We use Vantage setup in a way to handle distributors as SoldTo
customers, and an end customers as ShipTo addresses. For the most part
it works pretty good. We also sell direct using internal sales staff to
sell. Distributors get involved when it comes time to install and
maintain the machine. Negotiations have worked out so when a machine
hits a distributor territory, that distributor receives an installation
bonus for getting the machine going.
We like to view our bookings less the installation bonus similarly as
you would a discount. The problem is neither the end customer's order
nor their invoice can be reduced by the installation fee like they would
with a discount.
The only idea I have come up with so far is incorporate an user defined
field, and deduct that amount in our bookings report. The problem is
this will not propagate throughout the system. For instance it will not
carry through to the Sales Gross Margin Analysis. I would really like
to capture this cost as part of that specific sale.
Any suggestions?
