Subject: [Vantage] ChgLog: Tracking new sales order releases
Date: Fri, 21 Feb 2003 10:00:50 -0800
For quite some time I've struggled with how to generate a report that
details new and changed sales order releases (on existing sales order
lines). I assume this information would come (at least partially) from the
ChgLog table, but something strange happens when I try to access it. When
running a simple export from this table, the export utility tells me that it
has exported ~41,000 records, however the actual number of records exported
(either into a .dbf or .xls format) is somewhere around 8,000 which are
comprised only of PO changes. I've also tried using an ODBC connection but
get an error message indicating "Column LogText in table Pub.ChgLog has
value exceeding its max length or precision."
The only way I've been able to access all ~41,000 records is through Report
Builder, but it doesn't have ability to create links to other tables using
substrings as far as I know. (I'm thinking I would be linking the substring
of Key1, Key 2 an Key3 to the OrdNum, OrdLn, and OrdRel).
Any thoughts on this scenario? Is there a better way to do this? Why can't
I access all records except when using RB?
