How to RMA Serialized sub-part

We issue serialized parts as materials onto jobs. We then ship that job on the Sales Order. Now I want to return that part on an RMA, but because the serialized part is not what was shipped, the RMA field does not let me choose that serial number.

I have tried manually changing status in Serial Number Maintenance but that doesn’t work moving them into inventory. They show as inventory in serial number tracker, but the on shelf qty does not increase.

How can I get these “consumed” parts back into actual inventory status and show on hand?

The easiest way is to change the status in Serial Number Maintenance to Adjusted (others may potentially work), then do a Quantity Adjustment to put it back in stock and change the on hand qty. Changing the status will make the serial number available when you click Retrieve Available.

Interesting. I did that and it works. Odd that it has to be an inventory adjustment instead of being able to RMA it back into inventory. Thanks
