Thanks Brian!

I'm not on v6.1 either, but had no idea the BAQ Export Process exists. I've
printed your instructions for future reference. Just wanted to let you know your
answer helped someone out!

[Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
Is there a way to have BAQs that we've written run automatically? Currently we have to go in and run them manually every time - some are daily , weekly, etc....
From the Vantage Help:

Business Activity Query Export Process

Purpose
The Business Activity Query Export Process program lets you export query data through either the .xml or ASCII file formats. You can export this data each time you launch this program. You can also set up the export so that it automatically runs each time you launch your Startup Tasks.

This data can then be used on an ASP page or imported into a third party application (like Microsoft Excel) for analysis, editing, and publishing.

You create queries through the Business Activity Query program. You then select these queries within the Business Activity Query Export Process program and export them out of Vantage.

The Business Activity Query program requires that you understand both the database and some basic Progress programming. This will let you create query statements that pull the data you want. For more information on using this program, read the Business Activity Query topics.

If you want to learn about just exporting a BAQ definition that does not contain any data, read the Business Activity Query - Export BAQ topic. To learn about creating ASP pages, read the Business Activity Query - Generate ASP and Create an ASP Page topics.

Note: Use the Business Activity Query link at the top of this page to access links to the help topics for the Business Activity Management module.

What to Do
From the Utilities folder, launch the Business Activity Query Export Process program.

If you have not updated table relationships to the current version, a warning message appears. To update the table relationships, click Yes; the tables are automatically updated (this may take a while). To save this process for later, click No. If you select No, however, this warning will appear each time you export the query.

In the Query ID field, you can enter the query file directly or click the Query ID button to find and select it.

Click on the Output Format list and select either XML or CSV for the file format.

Enter the Text Delimiter you will use.

In the Output Filename, enter the name for the exported query. This file will be automatically saved on the server within the MfgSysData/Reports/<UserName> directory -- where <UserName> is the name of the current user logged into the system.

If you want to display field labels in the export file, select the Output Labels check box.

To export this query each time you run your startup tasks, select Startup Task Schedule from the Schedule list. Then select the Recurring check box.

Click the (Submit) button on the Standard Toolbar to submit the schedule for processing.

The query's data is exported to the server directory and filename. The data is now ready to be used in another program.

For more information on running this process through a recurring schedule, read the System Agent Maintenance topics.

Field-Level Detail

If a field has a Context Menu, a triangle appears in the field's upper right corner. You can change the colors of these triangles or even remove them. You can also define the hot keys that will be used to launch the Search and Maintenance programs within these fields. For more information, read the Options - General and Options - Hot Keys topics.

Key Fields
Query ID
The identifier for a specific query program. You can enter this ID directly; you can also click the Query ID button to find and select it. For example:

OM01

JC10

For more information...

For more information, read the Business Activity Query topics.

Description
A brief explanation of the query. When you enter or select a query, its description appears; you cannot edit this information. For example:

Orders by Customer

Jobs by Customer

Detail Fields
Please note: The fields listed here are the default fields for the Business Activity Query Export Process program, and they are listed in alphabetical order.

Output File Name
The name of the file that will be exported. This file will be automatically saved on the server within the MfgSysData/Reports/<UserName> directory -- where <UserName> is the name of the current user logged into the system.

If you are unsure where this directory is located, launch the System Monitor and click on the History Tasks tab and the Detail tab. The file's directory path will be displayed.

The correct file extension is attached during each export. If you select that the output will be an .xml file, the .xml extension is automatically added to the file name.

Output Format
The default file format for the exported query. An optional field, you can select a different file format each time the export process is run. There are two options:

XML

CSV

Output Labels
When selected, this check box indicates that field labels will be exported with the query data.

Recurring
When selected, this check box indicates that this query's data will be exported on through a regular schedule. The check box causes the data to clear; the process will then be ready the next time the schedule is launched. For more information...

For more information on creating schedules, read the System Agent Maintenance topics.

Schedule
The frequency during which you want this query's data to be exported. If you select Now, you will export the data immediately after you click the Submit button.

If you select one of the available schedules, however, you can export the data automatically through a regular schedule. This process becomes a task within the selected schedule; it will run each time this schedule is launched. For more information...

For more information on creating schedules, read the System Agent Maintenance topics.

Text Delimiter
Defines how you will separate units in the exported file. Enter the text delimiter that you want.

Example: You place a semi-colon (;) in this field; this character will separate the data in the exported field.
