When creating a new detail on the RMA, the system is requiring a Legal Number. Where can I go to stop this requirement, as it is not needed. We didn’t see anything in Company Configuration.

I had the same issue… after looking for way to long due to poor error messages and shockingly bad labeling I found it under:
Company Configuration>Module>Sales>Order
There is an RMA section where you can uncheck “Use Referenced Invoice Costs”
You might want to check the Legal number setup (this is not in company settings) - there you might find a RMA legal number setup :
If you tick the “allow change after printed” it will no longer bother you (and keep generating legal numbers). Not sure if you can delete the setup entirely without creating problems - probably not, but better ask Epicor Support first to be sure.
