Idea: Bring back the ability to refresh system monitor tasks

I was really talking about a 30 minute report. But, point taken.

Sometime in 2025.2 it seems that for us, the active tab no longer will refresh, ever. We only get things showing up in the active task pane on page reload.

Time to just switch to @GabeFranco’s task dashboard.

I think I use his screens more than I use most default screens haha

I’ll just fix it myself. I’m not waiting for something that may never come.

Go on…?

Don’t hold your breath @mbayley this monkey has a case of ADHD

On Prem users dont count costs by spinning disk. Cloud SaaS does

Nope, sorry

I put in a ticket and got the same response. Working as intended.

Aaaaaarg!

Another side effect of their cloud, they will cut every single corner to cut cost. They will use the guise of performance. It’s 100% about maximizing their profits, customer be damned. The bare minimum of what they can provide you, for the max they can charge you exactly what you will get. And when they do, what are you going to do about it? Gripe into the void or reimplement with a different provider for a fortune. Those will be your options. THIS is why I speak strongly against this initiative and suggest you join the fight. In the end, it may not matter, and in that case, ride your current version into the oblivion on your perpetual license (before that take that too). There are more than enough of us around to support it.

Voted! This was annoying me just the other day as well. Good idea!

Woo! Progress!

Except that every time I have entered it as a bug in epiccare they say to put in an idea?

Yeah… it sure seems intentional, and of course @mbayley was told it was.

I mean, it’s like Superman asking for the Kryptonite to be removed. It’s not an “enhancement” as much as it is “can you undo the thing that’s crippling us”?

I never claimed it made sense…

Not that anybody wants the extra work (nor deserves it)… but a couple months ago I was doing a bunch of SSRS testing and got sick of waiting to see the error messages so I could narrow down my issues (of which I have many).

I did a quick BAQ against the SysTask tables and threw it up on a dashboard with my own refresh button.

I was assuming they took the grid-refresh option away to reduce server chatter. Basically putting a governor on everyone. But hey, perhaps it IS a bug and they really didn’t MEAN to cripple everyone.

Anywho… I now have my own light-weight System Monitor and I can get to the Message Text quickly and refresh to my heart’s content.

It’s not ideal by any means, but it sure beats repeatedly waiting 30 seconds when you’re troubleshooting!

Honestly I am not sure why in 2026 in a web application we are still polling the server for all tasks… Why not just use webhooks? This way when a task finishes the task agent can just tell the client directly… Way more efficient and no polling delay…

Maybe we’ll be lucky and Bold reports will move to webhooks… :crossed_fingers:
