I had a 14GB which I reduced to about 4. It was because a transaction table
had grown way out of control. (I can't remember the name of the table, but
look for the largest number on the tab analysis report.) It was related to
the Cost set entry function. Each time a standard costed part is rolled up
for cost, it is necessary to create a group, regardless whether you are
rolling one part or all of your parts. After posting the groups we had
never deleted them which caused the table to grow. In a couple week
project, we deleted well over 1000 of these groups thereby reducing the db
by about 10G (after deletion you must re-do the dump and load.) One last
word of caution, if you in fact have several cost roll up groups to delete,
be advised that it takes a couple of minutes for each (depending on the
horsepower and network speed). During that couple of minutes the whole
system becomes very pokey. (So it may be a weekend project.)

Subject: [Vantage] Ideal Database Size - Vantage 6.1
Hi Group,
What is the ideal database of Vantage 6.1? Our database size is 9GB. I
did dump and load 3 years ago. I ran tabanalysis but db defragment
scatter is less than 2.
Any Suggestion?
Thanks,
