Ideas for a job

We did a custom solution for a similar company (they did cutting on Tape
Rolls) it was massive though, they needed to track individual pieces of the
cut and time on both the slitting and the coating ("adding adhesive")

We used several UD tables to track the individual cuts and
product configuration to generate them based on width, length etc...

Definitely doable but a bit a of a monster

We have large paper rolls that we cut down into many smaller rolls. We would like to be able to attach scrap paper and time to a job, but are unsure the best way to go about it. Anyone else have a similar process?
Does your company "pre-slit" the jumbo roll into multiple, and different width rolls? Or slit-to-job just prior to job start? As far as scrap is concerned is this the kerf from the slittting process and/or from the job?

Labour entry will allow you to report both direct and indirect cost/time to a job and allows for the reporting of scrap parts. You can either use this function by proxy from the MES interface or have your staff fill in some paper and have someone enter that information into Labour entry.

Or slit-to-job just prior to job start?
We do this as well for our custom make to order bags

As far as scrap is concerned is this the kerf from the slitting process and/or from the job?
Yes, the scrap would be the kerf and any damaged paper from getting the roll setup in the slitter or if the roll
tears during the process and they have to re-setup. As far as job scrap goes we plan to use the roll weight
at the start of a job minus the weight at the end of the job minus the expected lbs used and accept the remainder
as our scrap if that makes sense.

Are you using different UOMs for your different slit widths or separate part numbers?
We are a printing company and inventory many different slit widths for many different raw materials. We are on the fence about which direction to take.
We inventory and issue in feet however.

We are using pounds for all of the paper inventory and issuance to a job. Note that we are not Live yet.
