Important Enhancement Request for all Vantage 6.1 companies!

Hello,

This what we had :

We have smth around 100 reports in Crystal. This reports are rewrite from RB in vantage 6.10. When we installed Vantage 803 and moved all data form 6.10 we had all reports from 6.10 which didn't work. We erase all reports using Menu maintanance and put all new crystal. The problem was when we moved data again from 6.10 to 803. All crystal reports disapeared.

We found this solution:

All info about reports and all things from Menu Maintanance in Vntg 803 is in Menu table. When we installed all crystal reports we copy only info about this reprots from Menu table. We created SQL procedure which add info about crystal reports to Menu table. (All reports are on the server).
We created also 2nd procedure to erase all old reports when we move data from 6.10.

So, when we move data from 6.10 to 803 first we use erase procedure then we use procedure to add info about crystal reports. This way cut off our move data base time smthg around 2 hrs.

Thanks.

Bart.

Subject: [Vantage] Important Enhancement Request for all Vantage 6.1 companies!

We are upgrading from 6.1 to 8.03 and have begun the process of
modifying our forms (Sales Order, PO, Invoice, etc.). One of the
nice things about V8 is that you can add report data definitions to
pull data from other tables to forms that you previously were unable
to do.

Here's the problem - when you upgrade your data, it will overwrite
all the data definitions you created. There is no export function to
capture these changes before you overwrite them in with your updated
database on upgrade weekend. This may not seem like a big deal until
you actually start the process and see all the work involved.

So I recommend to all Vantage 6.1 companies out there to add your
company to the enhancement request below. Thanks!

Summary: REP Tool for Copying or Importing Report Data Definitions
Book: Change Requests
Request no.: 20902MPS

Description / Steps to reproduce:

PROBLEM: There is no easy way to copy a report data definition from
one database to another.

RESOLUTION: There should be a tool to export a report data
definition from one database and import it into another.

Just like with a customization or a BAQ, this would be very useful
for some customers and partners.

Yes, absolutely! Since this is a customization, one should have the ability to
unload/load like any other customization.

As a bonus, it would be cool to be able to compare two Report Data Definitions
so that when new versions come out one can see what has changed.

Excellent request Doug.
