Importing BOM into Vantage

Oops ... misread your post .. we do not have the BOM Import Utility .. we
use the mechanism of importing BOM rather than manually keying it ..

Haven't tried it in 5.2 ... works just fine in 5.1 ... only heartburn is
that the data imported is such a sparse subset of everything you will want
to know about the part ...

Creates new Part Masters as needed though ... and leaves existing Part
Masters alone ...

We are right now looking at this too so I would also appreciate any
feedback. From what I have seen the process is pretty straight forward by
creating CSV records with fields for each item in the DB dictionay (many
can
be blank). We quote and create all out BOM's in an Access database and
manually enter only the ones that produce orders but even so this amounts
to
considerable re-keying time. The biggest issues look to be the creating
of
the CSV records properly mapped, validation of the fields against
Vantage's
counterparts (work center, operation, etc...) and user procedure. The
demo
we had looked like it works pretty well.

We are manually entering the BOM's from our design group into Vantage
for each build job. We have decided to look into the BOM import
utility from Epicor. We use a flat BOM structure and do not have
ABOM. We utilize Pro/Engineer on the design side. Most of our build
jobs are 1 piece unique items.

Is anyone using the import utility and do you have any feedback,
pitfalls, etc. to share?
