We have inactive several AVL under a part number. However when our purchaser was opening a Purchasing order, he/she was able to open a PO for that inactive AVL. Was wondering is this a bug?
to my understanding, we shouldn’t be able to open a PO for inactive AVL.
Welcome aboard!
AVL? As in Approved Vendor List I’m guessing? A quick search and I did find this tidbit: The way the approved supplier logic works is that if there are no approved suppliers then you can create a PO for any supplier.
Now that I have read that, it does line up with how it seems to work.
Thank you for the respond! Yes AVL is approve vendor list.
I’m not sure if my question is clear. But here is the case. By inactive this manufacture part, we were still able to open a PO for this Manufacture part. Is this a bug?
Are there any other approved records for that same part? I guess in this case, probably even down to the Manufacturer’s Part? I have used Approved Suppliers before, but not approved Manufacturers.
It probably sill comes down to if no one is approved, everyone is approved like the suppliers do? Maybe someone else that has used this functionality can chime in here.
That’s a completely different Manfuacturer’s Part Number. It would think that would not qualify.
Sorry, but I have to ask just to make sure… Should those really by Approved Suppliers and not Qualified Manufacturers? These are two different things and you did mention approved vendors intitially.
Edit:
If you can purchase the same part from multiple different approved suppliers, that is just simply an approved supplier scenario.
If you can purchased a specific part, from a specific manufacturer from several different distributors, they might all have different supplier part numbers, but the manufacturer’s part number would be the same on all of them.
Ah so by inactive the manufacture Part under Qualified Manufacture Maintenance, while opening a PO, we can still select this inactive manufacture part?
Example here:
I have inactive MPN (ABR)535-10983-1-ND under Qualified manufacture, when i try to open a PO i can still select this (ABR)535-10983-1-ND?
Thought the idea of inactive this manufacture part is so that PO can not
be open for this manufacture part, in this case (ABR)535-10983-1-ND.
I’m not completely sure, the initial answers I gave to your initial question were based on Approved Suppliers. I do know how that works and I am just assuming this works in a similar way.
You might need some input from others here or talk to support. I did find a couple of related articles.
