Inactive customers/ship-to addresses

Hey there!

There is actually an enhancement request number you can use, the document number is 20002MPS.

Since it is an enhancement, the only way they will implement it is by having many customers added to it and asking for the same enhancement.

If you have the time you may log a call asking for this to be implemented and reference the enhancement request number I just gave.

And no, I don't think you are the only one that has requested that.

Regards!

The ship-to contacts have a 'No Contact' but as for the Ship-To itself,
it would probably be good to have an inactive check box on the ship to
address.

I find same annoyances, more though with customer ship-to's that are
gone or ship-to contacts that leave, there is no inactiave or no contact
flag on those and we end up always putting the "Z-" in front of the name
so at least they are on bottom of lists and people won't use them, but I
agree there should be a better way... one of those things we just learn
to live with and workaround...

We have a few thousand customers and ship-to addresses in our Vantage
8.03 database. Over time any given number will go out of business,
close/consolidate ship-to branches, or become inactive for other reasons.

The problem we have is that our Customer Service and Order Entry
personnel cannot distinguish between active/inactive customers and
ship-to addresses. Thus they have become very creative by changing
and/or adding "inactive" or "do not use" in the name or address fields.

I would like to know how other users are handling this problem. I have
asked Epicor before about this and really did not get an answer. Plus
I cannot believe that we are the only ones encountering this issue.

What we would like to see is an enhancement to the system that would
give us a flag on the Customer Master and on the Ship-To screen, like
in the Part Master, to mark a customer or ship-to address as inactive
and exclude those records from the search windows and drop-downs in
Order Entry.

Would other users benefit from this? How would we go about making this
an Enhancement Request?

Companies often use the 'no contact' checkbox on the customer record

This then also filters in the customer search form
