Inactive GL Accounts

I did find this out a couple of years ago when we removed two divisions from our GL. However, these entries ARE manual entries.

How does one go about totally making a GL account inactive so no one can post to it? I found two entries made in 2010 for accounts that were made inactive over 2 years ago.
We just went live on 9.04.506C. It looks like you can go to General
Ledger > Setup > General Ledger Account. Search for the account that
you want to inactivate and just uncheck the active box. I haven't tried
it yet but from the help entry for General Ledger Account Maintenance,
it looks like that's all you may have to do.

How does one go about totally making a GL account inactive so no one can
post to it? I found two entries made in 2010 for accounts that were made
inactive over 2 years ago.

That will inactivate the account for manual postings. However, if you have product groups, reason codes, miscellaneous charges are other items set up with the account, the system may post to it - even if it is inactive.

This is how the inactive accounts were. For some reason it is still allowing the postings. In fact, if I were to go an try and run a general ledger report for just that account, I wouldn't be allowed to because the account was inactive.
