Does making a GL account inactive prevent it from being included on prior period financial reports? We closed our first fiscal year in Epicor and I no longer want to use some of the GL accounts, but I would like them to be included on the financials for prior periods.
I’m 99.9% sure that it just prevents it from being used for posting.
Easy enough to test if it affects Financial Reports (which I’m pretty sure it doesn’t)
EDIT
A quick test of making a GL acct “Inactive” (“Active” checkbox is unchecked), and I can still select it on a PO Release. I’m guess that if the COGS/WIP Capture was run, the PO Receipt would fail to post.
Marking a GL account inactive will prevent users from using that account in entry pages such as PO Entry for Misc - Release tab, AP Invoice Entry - GL Analysis tab, Journal Entry - line tab by throwing an error message. As noted, it will also prevent posting by throwing that to the Review Journal.
It will continue to show in the standard Financial Report writer and XLConnect unless you specifically do not include that account in the report definition.
On 10.1.400.23 and 10.2.300.23, I can still select an Inactive GL account for the Expense acct on a on a PO Release. I can also select it in Journal Entry.
Only the posting process is blocked. (Sends it to the Review Journal)
