Inadvertent price changes on PO's due to Price Brea ks

There also has been discussion and a suggested enhancement for PO's to add
revision capability. This could be handled in that area as well.

Another thought if price breaks in adjusting the price, which sounds like a
feature but is interpreted as a bug, is it captured in the PO change log?

That would have been my original assumption, and was how it worked in 4.0,
but the current 'enhancement' changed that. A printed PO is a contract, and
how could you change the price unless you print a new PO?

Apparently there are some people who DO want to have the price changed even
after the PO is printed -- at least enough for Epicor to change the
functionality in Vantage.

Another suggestion might be for the system not to change the price from
the
price table after the PO is printed.

Craig at Epicor helped write up a suggestion on this issue...

We found that the Price Break tables for a Vendor/Part will change to
price
on a Puchase Order without you knowing it whenever you change the quantity
on a PO Line. This has caused some prices to change on PO's that we
didn't
intend due to the fact that we may have set a price agreed upon by the
Vendor for the order regardless of the quantity purchased. Unless the
Purchaser keeps their eye on the Unit Price when changing quantities and
remembers what it should be, they could inadvertently change the price on
the PO (as well as other releases of that line). We found this week that
this had happened to quite a number of parts in our system. Below is the
enhancement # that Craig wrote up if anyone would care to add their name
to
it.
Incidently, back in 4.0, this feature worked more as we would have liked
it
- meaning that the Price Breaks only had effect when the Order was first
set
up. In 5.0 this changed as described above.

Here is the enhancement suggestion based on the problem you described...

Page ID 7054MPS

PROBLEM DESCRIPTION:
Price changes any time they add a quantity or update the quantity. This
causes problems if the users are not careful to watch whether the price
has
changed or not. In some cases, a price has been negotiated and should be
fixed, no matter what the quantity is.

SUGGESTION:
Price should not refresh from the price break table when the PO quantity
is
changed. Or, customer's should have the option to 'fix' a price on a PO
so
that no matter what, the price would remain fixed at the original quantity
unless the 'fixed' flag was unchecked.
