Incorrect Issued Qty in Job Tracker

I'm on version 4.00.904 and there is not an association of a REV level for
parts in stock in version 4 either. I could have sworn however, that I had
an occasion where a part did not backflush and had determined that it must
have been due to a change in the REV level of the component part. I just
tried to duplicate in my test DB and could not.

"Upon further review" I seem to recall that it might have been that when
the revision change was made to the component part, we also must have
accidentally unchecked the "backflush" box in the part master for that part.
Sorry for confusing the issue for everyone.

Greg,

What version of Vantage are you using? In 3.0 there is not an association
of a Rev level for parts in stock, so it will backflush the qty, regardless
of rev level of the part in the BOM of the job.

I'm asking to see if anyone has an explanation of why this situation has happened - epicor can't explain it.

We manufactured a subcomponent. (part SubA). We transferred it to Stock (Mfg-Stk) on 12/7/00. One minute later we issued part SubA to a parent part (Job1) (Stk-Mtl). The Stk-Mtl transaction shows up under the SubA Part Tracker, Transaction History on 12/7/00- Qty of 1. However, Job Tracker for Job1 still shows that the job is one short. And the transaction history doesn't show the 12/7/00 transaction to that job.

Can anyone explain why?

I assume it's not a "screen refresh" problem. (ie:close job tracker and
then re-open)

No, we've done it dozens of times, and the transaction is over a month old.

We're hoping not to. . . but haven't tested anything.

Would the fact that the subA part had revs that changed over the course of the three transactions have anything to do with it?

I would almost say absolutely. Test to be sure but that sounds like it
might be the reason. I have wierd things happen being on Average cost that
are similar. The average cost of a component part at the moment the job is
created becomes the estimated cost for that part on that job. When that
part ia actually issued or backflushed to the job it's average cost can be a
lot different.

Greg,

I understand how the costs can change over the course of a job, but that shouldn't affect the quantity of parts issued to the job. Unless it's a glitch in the system.

Forget cost for a minute. I also backflush material as a general rule. I
noticed that if I create a job that uses a certain part that has a REV "A"
BOM it had better still be REV "A" when it comes time to backflush or it
will not do the transaction. What you described sounded similar.
