Currently (10.2.600) MMSHistory in Part Class and Part Site cannot be more than 365 days. There are many business scenarios where this much history is not adequate. I understand that this limitation is probably related to performance, but sacrificing a features usefulness for performance is usually not a good idea.
Purpose: To accommodate real world Inventory management needs of customers. Some industries require more than 365 days of usage history to properly calculate Min/Max & Safety Stock levels.
Suggested Enhancement: In our business only 365 days of history for Min Max Safety Usage calculations is not adequate and we would like to request that the history be able to go back further, at least 3 years. Currently if we try to enter 999 days we receive an error that only 365 days is allowed.
We understand the current behavior is intended design and is probably to preserve performance, but only a years worth of sales and usage history is not adequate in our industry and long lead times. Perhaps Min Max Safety Calculation can have a ‘Submit’ as a task process much like Stage Ship Confirm and Kanban Receipts do for heavy workloads.
Current workarounds: None. Still using Excel to calculate Min Max & Safety.
