Does anyone know if there is a way to issue miscellaneous labor to a job? In the same way that you would issue miscellaneous material? Most of our products are engineered to order with the engineering time billed directly to the job. So in order to accomplish this, we have been putting engineering operations on the job so that they can clock the time needed, and then after we actually have a BOM, importing the materials and operations using append details. The problem that I would like to get around is having all of these engineering operations showing up on operations to be completed. They have a bunch of operations for design, drafting, approval, and whatever. Some get used, some don't, but they've been putting this long list of operations on the jobs for the "just in case" but it's adding noise to the system when I want to look through jobs to see what's completed and not. Also once there is this labor on the job, you now cannot delete anything that you bring in, so if we make a minor mistake while populating the job info, it won't let you delete it because there is already labor on the job. It basically just makes things messy.
So is there a way to apply engineering labor to a job without having to put the operations on the job? Basically like indirect labor, but not quite because it would be tied directly to the job. Is what I'm describing basically project management?
