Ok Accounting gurus, tell me if I am wrong in saying this but if you
adjust the cost of a part through cost adjustment then those costs will
hit the GL only after you have done some kind of inventory transaction.

In otherwords, if you did some cost adjustments, then did some inventory
transactions, then run the COS/WIP, then those costs will hit.

Did you do all of this?

We are getting ready to go live with Vantage 8.0.3... I do not see an
inventory load option under set-up, like there is for open invoices.
How does the initial inventory quantities get loaded? Is there a load

To run an initial Inventory Load you will need to have a custom
program written and it is worth the expense. The best place to
purchase a custom program like that is from 2W Technologies. They
already have it written. So you can get it right away. They are an
Epicor authorized support group. Call (814)333-3117 - Hope this
helped - Monte Tomerlin

When we loaded our inventory for a fresh install of Vantage 8.0, we
created wash transactions that credited and debited the same account
so that no costs hit the GL but the inventory is put in the right
place. To do this, you need to modify either the reason code account
to match your inventory account or visa versa. You should definitely
see the transactions on COS/WIP as long as you specified the right
report parameters (date range, not posted, ect).

The more difficult task was loading WIP accounts. You had to do the
same thing with Job Adjustments matching the direct labor, direct
materials, burden, etc accounts to the WIP account (based on product
group). It all had to be carefully orchestrated and verified after
each transaction.

Good luck.

The costing method is equal to Std in the Part Maintenance, and I
entered a Standard Unit Cost in the Cost Adjustment before I did the
Quantity Adjustment. I set up a reason code of Initial Inventory Load
and pointed that reason to the Finished Goods on the GL.

In otherwords, if you did some cost adjustments, then did some inventory
transactions, then run the COS/WIP, then those costs will hit.

Did you do all of this?

I was looking at the material transaction detail report and on the GL
after I ran the COS/WIP activity report.

What were you looking at when you saw that the cost was not generated?

Subject: [Vantage] Initial Inventory Load

We are preparing to go live in Vantage 8.03.403C, we plan on using the
Quantity Adjustment to load the initial inventory quantities. How does
the initial cost in the sub ledger get loaded? I entered standard unit
costs for finished goods in the Cost Adjustment, and no cost was
generated with the Quantity Adjustment.
