and 65 days to go…
So have we had any further thoughts on a kitty folks? Just need to know how many kidneys I need to sell
or work more…

So I have never been to Insights and we are currently in the upgrade process to Kinetic from E9 - how valuable is Insights? The extended education sessions look great but already know that I can not make Sunday, which looks like the courses that would be beneficial.
Current plan is to be upgraded and live before Insights, so part of me can not decide if I should be gone shortly after going live. Or would the sessions be extremely worthwhile and delay go live until after Insights?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
Talking to people who have been there before you is worth the trip by itself.
Thats a tough choice Tim.
I have a rule that says I don’t leave town after I change something major. It’s a fuzzy rule and depends on what’s major versus minor and what kind of access I’ll have when I Ieave town. A version upgrade is one of those things that keeps me in town for at least two weeks, but we have a lot of custom code that can go wrong. If we didn’t, I might consider things differently.
I would talk to your key users and management folks about what they feel is acceptable.
The networking with other Epicor users is the best part of Insights. Talking with your CAM and solution partners you may use or investigating are also invaluable. I hope your upgrade goes smoothly and you’re able to make it.
Mike - that is one of my concerns, don’t want to leave people without support but also don’t want to wait another year if I can learn valuable information from the event. Catch 22 situation.
100%. If you can delay the upgrade, do that.
If you cannot - have to ask yourself “is it a major, complicated, laden with custom code, or don’t have any other on-site support kind of upgrade?”
If it’s any of those things, I’d be hesitant to leave.
If it helps, the Extended Education sessions are very lightweight, simple introductions to the topics. You may get much more from the guys at the booth on the floor.
Maybe you can just come for 2-3 days and really focus on the few things you need to see.
I dunno. I’ve gone before with pending support needs and just brought my laptop to the sessions so I could make myself available if needed.
I say YOLO.

Mike,
Thanks for the input - we have very little custom code but we do have custom reports, which users could live without for a week.
oing from 9.05.702A is a big leap.
I agree 100% with Mikes comments… There is a lot of value going to insights in particular hearing from the trenches of upgrades past gone.
If possible postpone and come to Insights get as much information, bringing any business and end user concerns, so you can pump people for informaton. Then go back and have a war room (I love that term @dcamlin
) meeting with all your project team communicating everything gleaned from insights, and work through your go/no go checklist again…
At the end of the day the best person to know your situation, is yourself. For all we know your system is licenced for financials only and has 5 users!
Have confidence in yourself that you will make the right decision and Insights will always be there next year. So don’t get a FOMO.
If you do come then we will see you there…![]()
As long as you are in a place with Internet connectivity and you are accessible over phone, you should be able to handle anything.
Think of your users are children. You want them to be independent and don’t bother you for every little thing.
Independent…
Children…
I don’t think these go well together. ![]()
