Inspection Processing (8.03.406A)

Were you ever able to create a BAQ Search for Inspection Processing?

Hello,

Is anybody know how to change search result for Inspection Processing? When I run search and I am trying find data by Job Number in search result I see    Job Number | Quantity | Part Number | PO Number | Line | RMA | TrnTyp . I'd like to see Operation Number, also.

Another problem is , when I choose Job Number and he appears in Inspection Items tree under operations I can see smthg like this:

-Operations
         [] Operations: JobNumber:a33298 Part:123456

I don't know why I do not have an Operation Number for this line and other lines too.

Thank you.

Bart.

Write a BAQ to present the info in the way you want, set all the displayed fields for use in Searches & then create a Named Search in inspection processing that uses the BAQ.

You can even set it to the default search if you want everyone to always use it.

Rob,

I did that way and in Named Search when I choose BAQ Search in Search Type I can't see any BAQ. It is empty ComboBox.

Thank you.

In the BAQ designer, you have to be sure to move all displayed fields to be usable in searches.

If you've done that (and still no joy), you are not querying the correct tables.

Open up the inspection processing app in developer mode and see what tables are really being used (not always easy as Epicor often obscures true table names with application specific views of a portion of a table or a combination of portions of tables). Using data tools and checking 'like' table.columns for key fields can often reveal the truth (but not always).

Looking to see what business objects the application uses also can often clue you in to what tables are really being manipulated.

Last resort: Full tracing to see what tables are being loaded after a search selection.

If it is a temp table (like Time Phase uses)... Your kind of screwed.

I'd be surprised if this were true of inspection processing however.

The fact that you can distinctly inspect OPs, PO receipts, Inventory, Job Materials, etc., means you may need SEVERAL BAQs that must be used for each type individually. (Kind of hard to 'super Join' a PORelease/PartTrans BAQ to a JobOpr/LaborDtl BAQ, etc., etc.,)

Rob,

That is very helpful but I have an one more question. Is any way to check which BAQ is used for search in Inspection Processing?
If I will know that thing, IÂ could copy standard BAQ and customize how I want and then it should appear in BAQ search.

Am I right?

Thank you.

I've never actually tried to figure out the native search source.

Try doing a native search with full tracing on... (You might get lucky and it might reveal a BAQ you can then copy from).

Only other option would be to peruse the native system BAQs and just look for a named possibly related to inspection processing.

I've always suspected most of the native searches are not even publicly accessible to us (as programmers to copy from)... I've assumed they are hard coded progress program searches that probably use much more of the very rich progress language than the BAQ editor supports.
