Inspection Processing - Pass/Fail partial PO's

It is actually not a bad practice depending upon your inspection stringency needs.

Most companies I've worked for use Mil-spec driven AQL sampling qty determining methods (not 100% inspection) and, if ANY of the sample from a received lot is suspect, ALL is failed for 100% review within a DMR process.

If we lose the (apparrantly unintended) flexible receipt inspection functionality when we eventually delve beyond 405, I won't lose sleep over it.

Yeah, I even talked to one of the Epicor techies and he said he thought they were going to address it in 9.0 but as of now thats the way it works which is wierd that it reverted back to the way it was and did not keep the functionality in 405! I hate to send everything through DMR but it looks like that is the workaround

Thanks Rob - tried it on 9.0 and it expects the full PO line amount to be dealt with at one time but I will go ahead and check on 405 and see if I get a different outcome

That's what I'm saying. In 405a you can inspection pass 50 out of your 250 and either leave the 200 balance uninspected or reject the 200 balance to DMR (either in a single Inspection entry or two seperate ones).

I'm not sure what is preventing you from doing it (unless it is a version quirk.)

To make sure I'm not imagining things I just DID this on our train db (which is a copy of our live system).

Its not that Rob, in our environment we can process say 250 incoming parts, which may take several days. During that time we want to "approve" 50 of the 250 and leave the other 200 pending inspection instead of having to pass/fail the entire 250 at one time

I am curious if you have experienced any issues in regards to the
following problems:



The unit of Measure conversion on any UOM's other then Each to Each were
a failure. We purchase a lot of product by the foot, but stock and sell
it in Each. These UOM conversions failed, but worse they were not
correctable. Epicor 9 locked out the ability to change these UOM's. The
UOM Class at Part Maintenance Level was locked on the parts that we
migrated from Vantage 8.03. The system worked fine with new parts, but
ALL PART NUMBERS from Vantage 8.03 were locked. We were also unable to
enter a conversion factor for a UOM Class ID.



Other issues: Cannot do any change on Quote that has been Won, sales tax
report not printing all 10 digits, Approved check box grayed out after
updating the PO Misc Charge, Supplier price list defaults to the oldest
record, Customer Credit Manager showing Wrong Information, AR Aging
report not working, Need Ship Via added at the Supplier Level, PO
Receipts on Nonconformance switch tabs when entering PO, Drop Shipments
need to include the ship via and Customer PO number from the SO, and
Shop Load report failed.

This will be an issue in our enviroment as well. I tested this
earilier and inquired why it wasn't working. the responce was 'works
as designed'. I am going to have to produce a workable process prior
to our up coming go live date so if any one has a process that has
been effective please share.

That's what I'm saying. In 405a you can inspection pass 50 out of your 250 and either leave the 200 balance uninspected or reject the 200 balance to DMR (either in a single Inspection entry or two seperate ones).

I'm not sure what is preventing you from doing it (unless it is a version quirk.)

To make sure I'm not imagining things I just DID this on our train db (which is a copy of our live system).

Its not that Rob, in our environment we can process say 250 incoming parts, which may take several days. During that time we want to "approve" 50 of the 250 and leave the other 200 pending inspection instead of having to pass/fail the entire 250 at one time

Yuck. We were never live on 305... just a brief few weeks during early pilot days before going to 403 (& then 404 right before going live).

Might be worth upgrading. 404 was a disaster for finite scheduling (405 & 406 not much better)... Really do you testing if you upgrade to make sure the new introduced problems (and there WILL be newly introduced problems) are not worse than your current state & you'll really get some net benefit.

Yeah, I even talked to one of the Epicor techies and he said he thought they were going to address it in 9.0 but as of now thats the way it works which is wierd that it reverted back to the way it was and did not keep the functionality in 405! I hate to send everything through DMR but it looks like that is the workaround
