Inspection triggers at internal Job Ops steps-V8.00_811

I can only speak as far as version 6.1 but operations 20 & 30 sound like
you want to set up a first article quantity for inspection. When the
operator logs in on setup you get signaled for first article. You can
even lock out data collection from clocking in on production until first
article is approved if you like. As far as receiving things to inventory
you can create an inspection warehouse and bin or just an inspection bin
in your current warehouse then transfer the material after it's
inspected. This would give you good visibility of where item's are at
but would limit the inspection data you would be able to enter for the
transaction unless you add a jobopr VBFORM or enter a memo.

Subject: [Vantage] Inspection triggers at internal Job Ops
steps-V8.00_811

We are a make-to-order/engineer-to-order shop. I'm interested in finding
out how users (other Quality module users perhaps) currently drive
inspection at various operation steps in a Job. Is there a way to do
this without adding an Inspection Operation step. We use the Quality
module to drive our detailed inspection. And this works well for those
Job Ops that are Subcontract steps driven from a Purchase Order, where
we mark Inspection Required at the PO so the PO receipt then forces the
part into the inspection queue. We are looking for something similar on
internal Ops. e.g:
Op10 - Cutting
Op20 - Lathe
Op 30 - Milling
Op 40- Cleaning etc.
We would want the inspection to be triggered automatically at Op20 and
Op30. Is there a way to drive this without adding two extra inspection
Ops in between.
At a minimum, we want inspection triggered at the end of the last
Operation, prior to doing a Job Receipt to Inventory. Any thoughts on how
to drive this process would be helpful?
Thanks in advance for all comments.

Are we talking about a first piece inspection or complete? Use the
number of pieces for the inspection and when the set up is started, it
will trigger the inspection as a first piece inspection. A complete
inspection is not possible UNLESS you tag ALL of the pieces
non-conforming when ending activity. When the inspection is done and the
parts pass the inspection, they will be returned to the job and flow to
the next operation.
