Installing 803 pitfalls

It wasn't the license codes in the end. I'd forgotten to go into the DB and set up the
parameters/port settings in the system agent. Sorted now.

Hi All,

Are there any pitfalls I should be aware of before installing 803? I
have 809G installed at the moment on my test server but I'll be
installing over the top of it, so that both versions will be on the
same machine.

Will the appservers automagically work for the new DB or will I have to
fiddle about with port numbers etc?

Cheers,

Jonny
The Vantage 8.03 DVD I was sent, installed alongside 8.00 without a
hitch. Appserver ports were preconfigured.

Bernie.

If you have ODBC set-up in your system agent make sure you change to the
appropriate port for 803.

Just installed it now. Rebooted just to make sure.

Tried to start training DB for 803.

DB starts OK.

Main appserver starts OK

ProcessServer stays on 'STARTING' for ages, then changes to 'ACTIVE'

TaskAgent starts OK and is 'ACTIVE' with an 'AVAILABLE' status. I
believe this should be 'CONNECTED' instead.

I don't seem to be able to log in using the client software, and
would like to know if there are any settings to check.

This is the only error in the MfgTrain803ProcessServer log:
[07/01/09@13:20:57.966+0000] P-003792 T-002252 1 AS --

Any ideas?

I believe that DB that is in there is bad...the manager manager user
name doesn't work...you should take a back-up of your current one and
restore it, or something of the like.

Did you go into the Admin Tools for the Training DB and add your license
codes?
