Interesting BAM problem

I'd say you hit the nail on the head! What I don't understand is why
this would happen with the InvceHead table. I thought this table
would only be written once for each order invoiced, regardless of
the order size. Then the InvoiceDtl table would have the data for
each line/release. This obviously isn't true, but I'd like to know
why it isn't true! :)

Hi all,

An FYI tidbit I wanted to pass along to the list...
I had a problem where a fairly large order could not be invoiced.
Every time it was brought into Invoice Entry, Vantage would hang and
have to be shut down. I opened a support ticket on this 2 days ago. I
got a message from support this morning to check for any alerts in
BAM. Turns out that I had an alert set to monitor the InvceHead table
and this was causing the problem. Once I turned off the alert,
everything ran fine again. I did not get an explanation as to WHY this
was causing the problem, but I thought I would share the knowledge
with everyone here.

Actually, there wasn't any custom code on my part. All I had done
was set the BAM to keep a log of any changes to the InvceHead table.
When we tried to invoice the order, the Server Log recorded this
error: [06/01/24@16:08:35.541-0500] P-005876 T-005796 1 AS --
(Procedure:
'db/trg/InvcHead/WRITE.P' Line:3198) ** Attempt to expand record
beyond the maximum allowed size. (444)

Who knows what would have happened if I'd asked for emails to be
sent as well!

Is it possible that "any changes" dumped so much into the log file that it went beyond the 1000 char limit set on them? Epicor does recommend that you only select specific fields to watch (not select all). Also makes the database grow rather quickly too.
