Bruce,

Ours is just the sales order, with a slightly different report style.
Pro Forma Invoice has the same doc number as the sales order (we
separated our numbering, so it won't duplicate as an invoice number).
Then we generate a true invoice number that references the "pro forma
invoice number" (the sales order number).

It was the easiest way, for our business model.
