Introducing: Cutova.ai: a configurable MCP server for your whole Epicor team

,

I’ve been building something for about 18 months and figured it was time to share it here, since most of you have been putting up with me for years anyway.

Cutova.ai is an MCP server for Epicor. It connects compatible AI clients like Claude and ChatGPT and many more to your Epicor environment, giving your team tools to answer questions, investigate problems, and get work done.

Here’s Executive Insights Skill Pack in action:

Is your executive breathing down your neck to do more “AI”?

Maybe they want automation opportunities. Maybe they want answers about the business. Maybe they just want something useful they can get their hands on.

That’s the opportunity I’m building around: giving people a way to work with Epicor without every question becoming another ticket for IT. You already have made dashboards and BAQs that can answer a lot of questions but they are scattered across different menus and dashboards. Let cutova bring them all those together, hand the BAQs to the MCP and let your LLM use them all to develop new insights and answers.

We’ve been running Cutova.ai against our own production Epicor for a few months, with several other folks testing it alongside us and beating on it. I’m excited to open it up to more of you.

One centrally managed setup. Each user’s own Epicor permissions.

An administrator connects Epicor and curates the tools and Skill Packs. Each person then connects their compatible AI client and authorizes their own access.

End-user MCP tool calls run as the individual Epicor user, with the security and territory restrictions Epicor enforces for those operations. No one account to rule them all.

That’s the enterprise part I care about: centrally managed configuration, tools you control, and individual user access. Start with a small group and expand across the team without rebuilding the integration on every workstation.

And for the CISO who’s already preparing a questionnaire: the DPA, Terms of Service, and Privacy Policy are published and available for review.

Still on Classic? Running on premises?

You don’t have to be using the Kinetic browser interface. Cutova.ai connects to the underlying Epicor services, so Classic users can benefit too. The Kinetic development packs target Kinetic and Kinetic uplift, but answering questions and using tools isn’t limited to browser users.

For on-premises environments, a locally installed gateway agent connects outbound to Cutova.ai. You don’t have to publish your Epicor REST endpoint directly to the internet and that is included in all plans including the free / community plan.

The out-of-the-box tools target Epicor 2025.2 and newer. If your older release supports REST and Epicor Functions,we can make it work too. Reach out with your version, and I’ll help validate compatibility and tailor the tools.

You don’t have to be on the latest and greatest to have this conversation.

It’s a Swiss Army knife. You decide which blades your users get.

Start with our packs or publish your own BAQs, Functions, and Business Objects as tools.

Have a BAQ you already trust ? Configure it in Cutova.ai, give it a description or let it draft one, and make it available to the assistant. No custom integration code required for that BAQ.

Skills combine those tools with instructions: gather these records, check these conditions, explain what you found, and help the user work through the next step.

That could mean helping customer service investigate an order, helping finance review receivables, or capturing a troubleshooting process that currently lives entirely in your head.

Development is included too.

Cutova.ai can help build and refine BAQs and Functions, create Kinetic dashboards, and work through rebuilding classic dashboards and customizations in Kinetic.

On the uplift work my team has been doing, It has made us so much more productive, not having to fight application studio to drag text boxes around is a god send, the Kinetic Uplift skill can help rebuild existing Classic dashboards, including customized ones.

If your focus is individual development, EpiDev has that covered well. It’s a great product, especially for that experience inside VS Code, and worth a look if you haven’t. Cutova can do do dev, but it is a canvas you can build your own tools onto and finnaly get that sweet sweet Ai juice your executive keeps harping about on their hands.

Cutova.ai’s focus is the shared, configurable platform for your whole team. Developers are part of that audience. So are the people asking them for help every day.

It’s still an LLM. Review its answers, test what it builds, and tell it what to change. It won’t follow the same conversation every time. That iteration, asking, reviewing, and refining together, is part of the value.

There’s a free tier you can actually use. and I look forward to seeing what you all come up with.

Keeping a useful free option matters to me. Free includes one user, one Epicor instance, up to seven enabled tools, and Executive Insights for exploring sales, receivables, cash, and backlog.

Every paid plan includes all Cutova-authored Skill Packs, including new ones we release. There’s a 14-day trial with no credit card required.

We’re also building a community marketplace for sharing or selling packs, tools, and agents. That’s still in progress, but I want people here to be able to put their own expertise to work on the platform. Third-party offerings would have their own terms.

Check out Cutova.ai and the demos

There’s also a full signup-to-first-answer walkthrough that runs about 16 minutes, so you can see the setup before trying it. Your setup time will depend on your environment.

I’ve put a lot of what I’ve learned in two decades of banging on Epicor into this, and I’m proud of it. The free tier is available now and isn’t a time-limited trial, so give it a shot and tell me what you find.

If something breaks or is confusing, tell me. Thank you for the support over the years. I love this community, and I can’t wait to see what you all build with these tools.

Awesome sir - appreciate all you do for this community!

What does the policy say? “Block anything amaizing?” :joy::joy::joy:

apparently, yes…

You got a uplift Crystal to SSRS Demo?

Sweet! Can’t wait to try it out.

Can we reskin it with an ERP Manager from Boston saying Cut Ovah?

For the different tiers, if you have 2 users (perfect for the starter tier), are you limited to wiring it up to LIVE and doing your development work there, so you can query off of realtime data? And if you’d like to use it on a dev environment, you’d have to upgrade to the Company tier? Just making sure I understand. TY!

I was going more british but that works for me!

Congrats on the launch Jose

Its limited to one intance (whichever instance you want). Today, I could be convinced to do 2 though Live / Test but at the moment it limits you to just the one in Starter.

Also the users are on a rolling 7 day window (kinda like bartender) so you can use it this week, and someone else can use it next week.

There goes my morning…

I’m bumping up my patreon subscription

Excellent work as always Jose,

I really like that everything runs in the current user’s context.

I’ve been playing with adding a business object such as SalesOrderSvc and getting it to lookup a specific sales order. I can’t get my copilot studio agent to use it. Any idea what step I’m missing? It’s like it tries to lookup a BAQ before any other tool.

Hmm I don’t have copilot but let me do the same setup in Claude and see if its an issue. I don’t use the BO calls a lot so I don’t have any setup right now but let me try that same one. Stand by

On Claude when you add a new tool, you sometimes have to disconnect and re-connect. Did you add the tool after the connection was made?

Hmm worked just fine in claude

I’m poking at copilot studio I dno’t think I have a license though but I’ll see what I can see.

So copilot pulls 25 tools (one page)

I doubt you have more than 25 at this point? If you click on the Tools , do you see this new tool in the List?

I finaly clicked all the buttons in copilot @mbayley and it worked fine, let me know if I can help. Boy copilot has 300 ways to setup an agent and none of them.. are easy. They need a UX Engineer… stat

One thing to note, adding new tools after you set it up, usually requires a reconnection. The protocol “allegedly” supports dynamic / new tools however most providers aren’t abiding by it Copilot included.

However 99% of the time re-connecting does it.
