We are looking for a proper QMS System, to better track all our constantly changing requirements from the Multiple ISO Certifications, to product specific Quality information.
Epicor’s Quality Module is mid at best, we are looking for something that will work across the board WHILE itegrating with Epicor.
1Factory is one option recommended to us, and is something we signed on for recently. The API is not included, comes at an additional cost. It has neat features like OCR of drawings, one of the highlights for us.
The quality department bought 1factory for that one feature. During training they said they want to be like ETQ but they are not a full QMS yet. And yes, everything is extra. API? Extra. Entra integration? Extra.
We recently signed with Windchill after an extensive eval process. We differed slightly as we needed both a QMS and a PLM to replace our very old, homegrown system. We looked at a lot of different products before landing on this solution, including standalone systems and those that could do both. EtQ actually did pretty well against the competition for QMS functionality, but it wasn’t strong in the PLM side of the house. The PLM that Epicor recommends is…not great.
The benefit of EtQ is that it has an “out of box” integration to Epicor. However, what we were finding is that they basically build it for you during the implementation, however it’s then maintained by them instead of you having to to it. The workflow functionality and web interface were really easy to use and our quality department loved it. If our situation was different, we definitely would’ve gone with it.
Windchill is a PTC product now and connects with a number of different CAD systems. I would say it’s more of a PLM that does QMS stuff. We did a pretty exhaustive eval and it fit our needs the best. We also seriously considered Arena, which was probably better at QMS functions. Propel was another product, but was a distant 3rd.
