Can anyone tell me how this ‘Available’ quantity field is calculated? Normally I think of Available as OnHand - Allocated. I think that is how it is treated in Part Advisor, for example.
For one of our jobs, on the Job Assembly screen, the Available Qty (47) is showing a value much larger than our On-Hand Qty (11).
We are making 36 of this same part on another job, but it is a Job-to-Job, there is no inventory involved. The fact that the quantity matches exactly indicates this might be the problem.
I still have access to the classic client which has actually useful help:
Available
Displays the quantity of this part currently available in stock. This quantity is the total for all the site s, minus any quantities that are currently allocated to jobs.
Quantity Available = Total Quantity On Hand - Total Allocated
Example: 100 sheets of sheet metal part SM123 are currently stocked in inventory. An order has been taken that calls for 45 sheets of part SM123. 55 is the quantity available.
Tip: Other factors enter into the inventory quantity that you should consider. For example, you may need to consider planned receipt quantities from your suppliers or quantities currently in production. Use the Time Phased inquiry in Part Tracker or the Time Phased report to get an accurate picture of the stock available for any part. For more information, read the Time Phased Inquiry or the Time Phased report topics.
