Job Auditing in 4.0

We don't use this option, but here is how I believe it works from when I
reviewed it many months ago:

Basically, when you click 'Prevent changes' you are not allowing a user to
make any changes to a job that has been marked as 'Engineered'. This limits
what the user can do to an engineered job. The user cannot add operations,
materials, etc., but can uncheck or check the 'engineered', 'released' and
any user-defined boxes, add memos, etc.

If the user unchecks the 'Engineered' box, he or she can now make any
changes to the job.

If you also click the 'Log Changes' configuration than when the user
re-checks the engineered box and tries to exit the job, a box opens asking
him or her to enter a description of the changes they made. They can type
anything in this box. This information is saved along with the user Id and
time/date stamp in the 'Change Log' which can be viewed from the job menu
when the job is open.

Our production planner would like to turn on Job Auditing (to see who
makes changes to Jobs) but the configuration options (in Company/Job
Module) are confusing. I have to click on the "Prevent Changes"
button for the "Log Changes" button to become accessible (otherwise
it's greyed out).

But if I'm preventing changes how can I log them? Is this a bug or am
I not understanding something?

Does anyone know if this is even the correct setting that will allow
us to audit job changes? Thanks in advance,

With both Prevent & Log checked, you will be able to see the changes made
to the jobs
