Job cannot be scheduled for its requested date due to system settings

While trying to reschedule a single job in job entry, we get the following message, “job cannot be scheduled for its requested date due to system settings.”

Where might this setting be located?

legacy KB article 13447MPS. This is the only article in any system I have access to that shows that error message:

Resolution

If you run MRP and do not check the box to Allow Historical Dates this is what is causing the message. Even though you have setup in company configuration to allow scheduling before today, when you process MRP, not checking the box to allow historical overrides company configuration and Bounces the job forward from the day you ran MRP.

By checking the box will allow MRP to schedule jobs backward from the required by date to meet the deadline.
