We are in the process of converting from E10 to Kinetics cloud based. As cost accountant, i close the job by first looking at all jobs that were shipped or received (WIP Qty = 0). Then look to make sure all the materials are issued and all the operation quantities are completed. So far, so good when comparing E10 to Kinetics.
However, in E10, there is a list view for the job closing where i was able to paste insert hundreds of jobs that passed my screen test and make the field Job Closed = True to mass close these job. I don’t see a list view in the Kinetics job closing window and only able to select each job one at a time to close, which will be very time consuming given there are hundreds of jobs. Does Kinetics still have the list view to paste insert list of jobs you want to close?
Oh I didn’t remember that one had a list view, its been awhile since I used the classic version. The landing pages in kinetic aren’t editable so this functionality is missing all over the place.
Are you pasting in the jobs, then reviewing them, then marking them as closed individually? Or have you already reviewed them by the time you are pasting them in?
The reason I ask is that if they are already reviewed, you can actually use DMT to close them as a temporary stop-gap until you can get something like a UBAQ or customization to replicate the list view in classic.
They are already reviewed before i paste insert them. I am using seperate queries and reports to review the jobs and the one’s that pass the review test gets inserted into the list view of the job closing from excel file and closed. In the list view, there is a boolean field i could use (Job closed) and turn it to TRUE and it will automatically close out the jobs for me when i upload.
Really? At a previous company, we almost exclusively used DMT for job closing and it seemed to work pretty well. What kind of intermittent problems did you hit?
We have the same issue. As a stop gap we have implemented the automatic job completion and closing to help, but our accounting team likes to be much more “Hands On”.
We have an accepted problem in with Epicor to retrofit and restore the functionality. Our problem ID is : PRB0298027
Intermittently the associated job mtl records would not get cleared from partdtl. Only ever saw the problem on jobs closed via DMT but couldn’t reproduce it reliably so never got anywhere with support, they just told us to stop doing it that way.
At my last Company, I wrote an updatable BAQ, all the jobs that were “fit” to close were closed by calling the business object to close the jobs off the back of the GetList method if I recall.
In FastClose we have a pre-built Job Closing report that shows the candidates to close shows if all ops are complete, all materials issued, open DMR’s, Inspections, Active Labour Transactions etc. with drills to examine each. Then off the back of that it provides a customisable DMT Template to help you close off the jobs.
I also have never come across issues using DMT for Job Closing.
Did they give you an ETA for this one? I have a PRB for the missing edit functionality in supplier price list entry, but its just accepted with no ETA.
AL, did you get an answer on this? I’m just now realizing I’m going to have the same issue once we are forced to use kinetic and I prefer to use the Job Closing screen instead of a DMT.
Not from Kinetic but our Systems Manger had to get outside consultant customize another version of the job closing screen where i could click on the “Close” (Editable) checkbox. Since it’s a lot of jobs, i load my list of Jobs into a dummy BAQ that is searchable and then pull in those jobs via searching for that BAQ search. It is much better than the default job closing setup but not anywhere near the old Kinetic 10 version where i could’ve just uploaded all of the jobs via List view and turned the “JobClose” checkbox to True. That closed all the jobs for me for each plant.
I have the same complaint with the BOM cost report and Bill of Operation reports. They took away the list view, so now my job is 10x harder.
I have an outside consultant that is going to look into making me an updatable Dashboard so I’m not forced to DMT them. Yikes I didn’t even think about some of the costing reports good thing I’m not using them currently. I’m struggling hard with these kinetic screens. I find them slow / laggy and require more clicks to get to “sections” that use to be tabs.
I’ve been monitoring PRB0298027 and they just punted it with an absurd answer.
“We have received a response regarding the Update Request. At this time, the grid is non-editable, the paste update option is not available. Because of this limitation, Development has determined to be unable to proceed with the request”
Huh? Development can’t develop there own applications and add an update option? The same option that is availble in 80% of all other grids.
