Does anyone know if there is any functionality in Vantage that would
allow the user to create more than one job at a time. Perhaps creating one
job and then asking the system to create 10 more just like it. We move a
lot of small jobs through our shop and it would save a lot of time if we
could do something like this.

FWIW

Why not create just one job for the total production? This would save
multiple labour booking on each job. Failing which, mark as a template and
duplicate.

MRP will create more than one job at a time but my guess it's more
functionality than you want, try a ground control software macro to automate
the entry process, if you want 20 jobs for the same amount and all made to
stock ground control software could really speed you up, all you would be
entering would be the Required Date. I did a similar thing when I create a
job for each machine in the building, each operation was a subsystem such as
electrical, lubrication, feeding, etc... which we report machine maintenance
against. I believe Ground Control is less expensive than MRP also.

I just installed the latest patch (v323) for Vantage 5.20. Now, everytime we go into job entry and pick an existing job, it asked us for a description of change even thou we only view it and made no changes.
Anyway to make that "Description of Change" window only pop up when we actually make a change?

Yep - same problem here - I called tech support - it is a bug. I was told
to use Job Tracker if you want to print or view. The only time you should
use Job Entry after released the job is if you are making a change. No they
are not fixing it - there will be no more patches to 5.2.



Is it me - or is 5.2 buggy with annoying bugs. Such as the one above??

Hi everyone,
We are currently setting up a new job with multiple assemblies and
seem to have a problem setting the start dates, material costs etc.
for the different assemblies. If anyone could help sher some light on
a few procedures, could please contact me off list.

My company is presently running vantage 6.10.541 but will be upgrading
in january to version 8.03, with the present version in job entry we
have an option for a 3 pane view that gives us the fuctionality to see
the BOM, Part or Work center, this is very helpful for job
troubleshooting and maintenence, this does not seem to be an option in
version 8.03. am I correct and does anyone have a work around that will
enable me to retain this functionality

It is a little unclear as to the exact panel of information you would
like to see in Job Entry. But the answer to your question is you can
see anything you desire simultaneously. First there are several
screen available in the Job Entry header. Most of these screen are
down at the bottom of the header screen. Any of those screens can be
rearranged so they can be observed simulatneously. Also if there is
additional screens of other info you would like to have, it is easy
to add them. This is the beauty of v8. - Monte Tomerlin
