Thanks Vassilis & Patrick, I suspect this is the answer.

Hello Tim,

We also run 6.1 and the same problem occurs in our system from time to time.

Job reservations and job allocations are not the same like the quantities
shown in time phase demands.

I don't know exactly the conditions that the system produces this
inadequacy.

It maybe some changes in material demand through job entry, that the system
reflect them correctly in time phase, but forgets to update job demands in
the part tracker.

In every case these errors should disappear from the system, if you run the
database conversion # 6,430 "Recalculate Part OnHand/Allocation summaries"
from System Management->Utilities->Database Conversions. In fact, running
this conversion is a necessary step before you run MRP. I hope this helps.

Subject: [Vantage] Job reservations that do not exist

Hello all,

I am new to this group, Vantage and Progress and am not even a "real" IT guy
but I do have a problem I was wondering if anyone else has encountered. We
are on 6.10 and I have found that some items in the part master are showing
a demand for a job where none exists, there have been no transactions on one
of these parts for some months and no logic I can see as to why this
particular quantity should be reserved for a job any way, nothing is showing
in time phase, just job demand. We operate multiple companies and warehouses
within vantage but the parts involved are only used in one company at one
site. The parts have only been created in the last few months, the items
were previously transacted on a couple of generic codes using lot numbers
and reservations had not been relevant until recently so an error may have
existed for a while and not been noticed. It has come up now as I have
created a VB program that can read a group of parts by class, direct from
progress, for sales staff to view live stock on hand, reservations, free
stock etc for a group of items we need to focus on at that level. The
negative free stock I found on this list raised a few questions and a look
at reservations in vantage confirmed the problem. I suspect there is a
chance of a dud transaction or three hanging about some where but am not
sure where to go from here. Any takers on this one?

Try running the "6430 Recalculate Part Onhand/Allocation summaries" in
DataBase Conversion.
