Job Search 'Where Part Description Contains'

We just did an IDXBUILD Wednesday night. It's not that bad. You have to
stop procontrol... we are on version 4. The index build will truncate the
BI file and then build all indexes. Our DB is about 2.3GB and it took two
hours exactly on a Dual PIII Xeon 500 with 512MB of ram.

Stephen Freeman has the instructions... e-mail him at stephenf@...
and he can forward them to you

We did the re-index because we had some vendors that would not pull up when
searching by ID#, but were there with the name search. We were also getting
an error when trying to enter a packing slip from those vendors.

Thanks for the feedback.

Is there anything I can do to fix this?

How do I do an index rebuild?

Should I call epicor support?

This is very strange. Yesterday I modified a part description on a job, the
person who put it in did not follow our procedure for assigning part#'s and
descriptions. Anyway, I changes the description in the sales order, part
master and job so that they are all correct and match. Now, when anyone
tries to search for the job based on any of the new words that were added,
it does not find the job. However, if we search on a word that remained
there, it does find the job. This is so strange and is making no sense to
me. I have to believe that I have modified part descriptions before and
have not had this problem... Any ideas, am I nuts????
As a test, I copied the description of that 'problem' job and pasted it into
the description of another already existing job. When I search on part
description for one of the words, it only finds the new one, not the
original job. I guess this isn't a huge deal, but our people often search
for jobs by customer name which is the first word in our description and
it's the one that's not working, and, more than that, I don't understand it!

There is an index to the Jobhead table called WordPartDescription
that is solely the PartDescription field. If for some reason this
index wasn't refreshed when you changed the value, the record could
be skipped.

Sounds like you're one step closer to running an index rebuild!

You can run an index rebuild on just the problem index. I don't have
the command line in front of me, but Vantage support can talk you
through it.
