Job Subcontract Operation Auto receive - To what location?

I know i can uncheck it and do a Job receive to inventory and specify my
location but that will add another burden on the receiver after receiving
the subcontract operation he will have to receive the job too .
Im trying to make it easier and only receive the PO that will automatically
receive the job into inventory

Hi all

Im facing the following issue and after talking to support they claim is
working as designed !!!

In short the question is when a operation is flagged as "auto receive" into
inventory then the quantity on hand gets updated in the bin based on the
following hierarchy:

- Primary Bin on the part master else
- First bin that has quantity else
- First bin for the Primary Warehouse on the part master

IMHO the user should be able to specify somewhere where it is received or at
least a Default setting for the plant (like regular receiving)

In more detail here is the problem we are facing:
We have parts that are going out to a subcontractor to paint so we have 2
parts

1. 123-UN for the unfinished
2. 123-WH for the painted

Part 123-WH has a BOM of part 123-UN with a operation of paint that is
flagged as subcontract & final operation & auto receive.
Then we create a PO and add the job as a subcontract line and ship out the
goods
When we receive them back the receiver creates a PO receipt to job and since
the operation is auto receipt the material goes into inventory.

But here is the problem:
We have a designated receiving bin for staging all PO receipts but the
subcontract jobs gets received to a different bin based on the mentioned
hierarchy with no way to change beside of doing a inventory transfer.

i hope i didn't tire you all with my long post but i will really appreciate
help on this.

I'm reading what you are saying but I think you are misinterpreting the
concept of "auto receive".

If you want to direct where you receive an item, uncheck this, and you
should be able to do what you want. IS there a reason why you cannot
uncheck this?

Maybe I misread something in your email, but I think "auto receive"
should work as designed.
