Job Tracker in MES - access to production detail problematic

Virginia-

There is a way that you can block access to the report even being run in the first place (System Management/Process Security/Rpt.JobProdDtl), by doing this it will prevent only authorized users (selected from Allow Access tab) from running this report from either the Job Tracker or the Job Entry screens. We had a similar issue but with employees printed job travelers from Job Tracker, since blocking the report to only authorized users the issue has disappeared.

Thanks

Paul

I think its just a philosophy thing. We are very open here about our
costs and pricing, and in fact want our employees to be very aware of
profit margins and job cost, because they are things that they can
impact if they are aware of it. We have a couple fields we blank out in
job tracker to give individual employees some privacy regarding what
their wages are. However you are right you can get that from the
report. We've considered modifying the crystal report to hide similar
data.. But for the most part we're pretty open here. You could slide a
password as a necessary parameter in the report to prevent it from
displaying for users you don't want to have access to it. Or some other
clever individuals might know some code to remove it from the actions
menu..

Subject: [Vantage] Job Tracker in MES - access to production detail
problematic

Does anyone else find it problematic that the job tracker that can be
launched from MES allows access to the production detail report? I think
this is a really bad idea since this gives our plant employees access to
financial data (customer pricing, profit dollars, gross margin)that they
should not be able to access.

None of us understand why Epicor does most of the things they do but can
anyone think of a reason why they would not remove the production detail
report from the actions menu when job tracker is launched from MES?

Thanks,
