Job Tracker / Traveller Security

Well, since you asked for any and all.... here is a total kludge but it
ought to work.
You will need Crystal (probably Professional) plus the downloaded
distribution facility.
1. Copy Job Traveler to another name and distribute it to only those that
need it
2. Modify original to print nothing
3. Users that need it run as usual but print preview only (to extract .dbf
files)
4. They then run the distributed (original) version to print
Not very elegant but secure. Probably better solutions around. Maybe NT
security at the R (run) level on the Crystal report?

Hello All

I know this ran last year but cannot trace any responses.

I have tied down those employees able to print a traveller but now discover
that anyone with access to the Job Tracker (everyone) can reprint a
Traveller. I need to close this, any and all suggestions gratefully
received.

I have a solution that I use here. I set an environment
variable to the users username when users log on to the
network. Then in Crystal I read the variable and change
fields/hide fields/etc... as needed based on the username.
To read the variable you need a crystal dll that I
uploaded to egroups. I wrote the dll but haven't done
a huge amount of testing it. It should work though.
