Kinetic Column Order

I’ve gone through several threads in this forum regarding customizing column order in Kinetic, but unfortunately none of the suggested solutions have resolved my issue.

I’m trying to reorganize the column order in the Line Tab of Quote Entry. Following the guidance I found here, I went into App Studio and used the personalization option to rearrange the columns. However, the changes don’t persist — even after saving, committing, and publishing.

Am I missing a step somewhere? Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Hey Eric,

There are two methods we normally use to rearrange columns, even at Quote Entry.

In App Studio, go to the Panel Card Grid, select the Three Dots > Personalize Columns:

Enable, disable, move columns that are wanted, then Save:

Name, Save, and Preview the Layer to verify updates.

Publish the Layer once you like it. Then go to Menu Maintenance, find all Quote Entry menu items you want the Layer applied, apply and save. Refresh your webpage to receive updates.

That’s normally what we do at least. Second and more drastic method is to go to Grid Model > Columns and delete all columns and manually add in the order you want them in. Rare that I’ve had to do this, but I have.

When you reorganize the columns in App Studio, are the columns correct when you Preview the application? Have you applied the Layer in Menu Maintenance?

Thank you for your help Billy, I am going to look into these solutions today.

Do you know if I need to create a new layer for this or can I do this on an already existing layer ?

You do not have to create a new Layer. If there is already a Layer applied in Menu Maintenance, I would go in and edit and update that Layer, Preview to verify changes, then Publish. You can always roll it back to the previous version if there are issues after Publishing.

I tried the first solution. I personalized the column order in App Studio (Discount% was moved to the first spot) and published the layer:

It looks fine when I preview it but when I refresh Quote Entry, the column order does not get modified:

I tried to log out/log back in but still the column order does not modified.
I checked menu maintenance and the layer is correctly selected in the Kinetic Customization field.

I am going to try your second method

Humor me here. Go to the Layer that you’ve already made the changes to in App Studio. Go to the top right and Save As the Layer. Name it ‘whatever - V2’. Save and Publish the V2 Layer. Go to Menu Maintenance and switch one of the Menu Items from the original Layer to the V2 Layer.

I haven’t found the reason for it, but I’ve had to create some V2 Layers within the recent past because my updates in App Studio aren’t holding in the Layer. After Publishing you can go to the Version History and it just shows Draft (even after Publishing).

Try that and see if it works, before you go and delete all columns and re-add. It might have the same issue.

Just tried this and it still shows the default column layout in the app

Just to make sure, have you done the following?:

Previewed V2 Layer and verified changes in Preview

Published V2 Layer

Applied V2 Layer to single Menu Item in Menu Maintenance

Refreshed your browser

Use Menu to navigate to the single menu item that V2 Layer was applied to

Yes, I followed these exact same steps.

Can you try opening an InPrivate window and see if it works there?

Same Issue in Private Windows. I don’t understand what it shows up correctly when I preview it and it does not when I open the app.

I have had this issued where an updated application conflicts with a personalization. I used Hannah’s tool to remove the personalization and then everything was good! Need votes for a program to remove kinetic personalizations - Kinetic ERP - Epicor User Help Forum

+1. You can also go to App Studio > Personalization and find them there to delete

I am not sure on the exact version, but it was somewhat recent. I was happy to see it. We are on 2025.2.10.
