What is the simplest way to select 50-100 jobs in jobs entry then cycle thru the list? (like the next record - previous record icons in classic)
Every route I take has issues or makes no sense or to be more specific nothing I have found keeps track of which job I’m on and lets me click to the next one to work on.
Assuming you can filter what you want in the Job Entry Landing Page
You can then use the record navigator on the top Left of the screen
When the list gets long the “>” drop down I get complaints on from my users. There is also Hot Keys for next and previous.
I’m thinking my solution would be to add the “Operation Sequence” type navigator at a higher level for job.
I think if this was in place everyone would be happier.
If a navigator like this was used for all high level screens, jobs, parts, orders, customers, etc. I think would get rid of the feeling of navigating blind.
Would also look and feel a lot like the Classic next / previous navigator.
But isn’t the “>” and hot keys basically the same? The classic dropdown is long as well. But Kinetic has a search, so you can reduce the size of the list quickly:
The classic prev, next requires a mouse (IIRC) where the Kinetic is keyboard Ctrl-Left arrow/Ctrl-right arrow- which seems faster to me.
Not to be insensitive to your users, but this is mostly about moving
I’m on the fence on this one and I agree with you but if I go to bat for my core data entry users I would say:
The “>” fails when you have a 100 records and have scroll down from the top of the list every time to find the next record past the one that is checked. Also no scroll slider on this screen to use or show you where your at on the list.
Hot Keys are the solution but again they don’t know where they are at on a list of 100 items and to them this is important because they don’t want to miss one and get yelled at by management.
I’m on the fence and this is why I’m not turning in a suggestion but I’m always wondering if a simple change would make an improvement we would all be thankful for.
Yes, this could be better and I would vote for an Idea on this. Plus, the “>” is too small to notice and click for some users.
BTW, if this is updating the same thing on each job, would it make a good case for an Updatable BAQ/Dashboard instead of using Job Entry?
That is an option for some repeat items, doesn’t work for comment fields with a lot of text or items that need to get done in a hurry like drop what your doing and update this.
Notes for the record.
I also had a user suggest that screens like job entry have a counter on top so you always know what was loaded and where your at (Record 1 of 80) for example. I liked it, a very simple solution, If we saw it in Job Entry we would want it everywhere in Kinetic.
