Kinetic MES Add Tab/Page

In Application Studio, I am trying to add a new tab to the MES screen, it is meant to have some buttons to open some custom apps.

In the designer, I have my custom tab, displaying my custom page, with a panel card and a button inside. When I go to preview the layer, the custom tab I added is there but the panel card/button is not there and it is just blank.

Why am I seeing a discrepancy in what the designer is showing vs the preview? I must be missing something?

This is tough to describe… but in your tab strip, under Data… find your new custom tab in the dropdown.

Did you select your page here (circled in red below)?

Without selecting what page to display, the tab will appear empty in preview.

Details for the extra page:

Tab details

Humor me for a second… can you delete this space and see if it works?

Mine was working, but just looking for differences between your set-up and mine… if I inject a space in my caption, my page fails (appears blank).

Getting rid of the space didn’t do it but making the caption match the page title exactly worked.

You would think you could make the caption whatever you wanted.

Ah, good catch! yeah, for my little “test tab” I just happened to use the same value for both.

Another Kinetic quirk, I guess.

You should give your last comment the solution on this one.

The Tab’s Name and Caption have to match for it to work.

Heya just popping in here to share my experience with this in regard to David’s final statement.

I think that the Within the Application Map, Clicking on the ‘Data Collection’ widget allows you to add new by clicking the ‘+’. That creates a page-detail. The page-detail Name and Caption need to be the same as in the image below

Then, while editing the Data Collection Widget, click on the tabstrip widget, within the Data Dropdown, Click ‘data …’ then click the plus.

Punch in the exact same value into the tabstrip ID, and select the page from the drop down. If your page isnt in the drop down, you havent added the page-detail correctly.

I may have missed something in my tests, but if you tried the suggestions above and still fumbled, this try this-
The page-detail’s Name and Caption need to equal the tabstrip’s ID and Page for it to work.

Edit: I tried this again on another screen, following my own instructions, and it didnt work intially: if this happens to you try saving your app studio draft and refreshing the app studio designer window, and re-linking the page to the tabstrip. ymmv :person_shrugging:
