Kinetic - Opening Local Images

We have a number of attachments that are added to Job, these attachments being links to a folder location on a local server.

Is there a methodology in the Kinetic Cloud Environment to allow these images to be displayed within an image box? It would make things far more usable.
Thank you.

You would be much better off exploring moving these local files to something like sharepoint.

Don’t cry @Evan_Purdy lol. It’s possible, but IMO not the best option.

If it’s the only option, it can be done.

Seems like hybrid options are always the hardest. Once you buy one cloud thing, before you know it you get sucked into buying lots of different cloud stuff.

An Image box within Kinetic? Like display it on the screen somewhere?

Where do you want these images to show?

Short answer like @klincecum said yes but its a hell of a lot of work.

Can you take us back to the original business problem you are trying to solve?

10K Foot View (one option)
Expose your Images via a web server (even internal one to your company)

Within Kinetic you can then reference those umages via url to http://my internal.server.com/:ImageID

It will work as long as you are accessing Kinetic within your network / browser and the Laptop / Computer has access to your internal network.

If you need this to work everywhere you’oll have to expose those images to the WAN via some web server (similar concept)

There are other ways but none of them are pretty

Thanks for the responses.

We manufacture large high value items, inside these items are components that are of high worth and can easily go missing or become damaged.
As each item leaves site we take photographs and these are added as attachments to the original job. The attachment is merely a link to our file server.

Our Claims team field call from customers for issues with their product. We utilise the Case system to administer the claims and address customer concerns. When a Case is raised we link the case to the original sales order and, in turn the manufacturing job.

We would like the case entry screen (Kinetic) to be a single screen that our customer service colleagues use to handle the case. It is a requirement that within the case screen that we provide a methodology to view the attachments against the original job (not the case). As each build has 20+ photographs assigned to the job it is far more convenient if we can display a list of the job attachments and display within a picture box.

Uploading the images to a sharepoint site is something of interest as is finding out how to display attachments linked to a job within the case screen, even if these files have to be downloaded manually.

Why can’t they just open the job entry screen to view the attachments

That will be the fallback position.

That’s absolutely gonna be your best bet. If the local files end up being a necessity, I have some workarounds, but I’d explore a cloud solution / cdn etc first.

Looks like Epicor managed AZ File Share is supported with sandbox.io
Function access to AZ FileShare?
