Labor only invoicing

>I would sugest looking at the Field Service module. It is designed exactly for Labor type of billing. No sales order is needed, rather a Service Call is generated from which a service job can be generated(which acts just like any normal production job). You can have materials, operations, etc.. on these service jobs. The nice thing is that you can indicate by material and by operation what is billable, which items are not billable, and how much (that's right I talking about the job on which you can do this.) When the job is done and closed, it automatically closes the service call and sends the signal to AR Invoicing. AR Invoicing then does the Actions - Get Field Service Calls....and anything marked billable on that service job comes across in invoicing. Again, it's predicated on the labor but you can also have material.

You can't invoice against jobs per se, but your options are to invoice sales order lines through shipments, create misc invoices, or invoice through project entry using milestone billings. Jobs can be tied to projects, along with sales orders, and purchase orders so there is some connection there. Have you looked at using project billing?

Hi Bill, we use quotes to create 'jobs' because you can enter all the mfg details there. If you need you can customize the quote form to make some sort of work order/pick list. Then when you are ready to actually bill it, push it into Sales order, make jobs then add labor, make a packing list and voila..invoice.

I wish you could go from job>invoice. It would make many things easier notably RMA.
