Hi Abe,
I do this all the time on my laptop. You need at least Window NT, 2000Pro, or XP Pro on the laptop.
The simple way to explain how to do this is use the CD for a server intall. Go through the Progress Install and the Vantage install as you would on a server. When you get to the client part (which you would normally do on a separate PC), make sure you SKIP the progress portion of the install since it got installed during the server portion of the install. You can use a physical path (ie. C:Epic51) instead of mapping a drive when you do the client install.
There may be other steps you would take, but the above instructions are the main difference between a server and a standalone install.
I use it all the time at home to run Crystal reports, exports, testing, etc. I do practice upgrades on the laptop as well, which saves me a lot of time and interruptions on the server.
