Judy,

I just worked on this exact situation last week for our customer
service people. We are currently in classic, switching to Vantage in
May. Right now our customer service people get a copy of each
invoice, (and we have one invoice per packing slip), they verify if
the shipment went out on time, if not they track down a reason for
it, assign it a code, and file it away until the end of the month.
They they count up the amounts for each code and create an Excel
graph.

In Vantage I've created a Crystal Report which they will run daily,
that will show all jobs shipped late. At that time they will find
out the reason for those jobs being late, and go into an Access DB
I've created that is linked to each packing slip. They go to the
packing slip that corresponds to the late shipment and choose the
correct code from the drop down list. Then at the end of the month
there is another Crystal Report that will total up the codes for them
to enter into their excel graph. I tried creating a nice looking
graph in Crystal but I couldn't get it to look as good as their Excel
graph.

We needed to be able to track each shipment independently so we
couldn't tie the late codes to the order, line, or release. We
needed to tie it to the packing slip. We thought about using a VB
form on the packing slip, but once its shipped and invoiced you can't
edit the packing slip. My Access DB has two tables. The shiphead
table from vantage and a table to store the late code entries.

In testing it seems to work great. Let me know if you want more
details.

We have a great report builder report that helps us keep track of our late
shipments.

We would also like track the reasons for the late shipments. Before I start
looking through Vantage for a good place to log this information so I can
print it on our report, I'd like to know if anyone else tracks the reasons
for late shipments and how they do so.

Sincerely,

We do not track the reasons, but would love to have a copy of your report.
Would you be willing to post it on Yahoogroup? My suggestion as far as how
to track the reasons would be in the Order Memo, with a category named LATE.
Although I don't know what table your using for your report.
