Limiting MES users

Tony,
Thanks for the tip. While the full license is the more expensive of the two, it is better than having TWO licenses tied up.

Karl,
you can run Office MES from within Vantage, and it is only using the one license. It's in Production Mgmt / Job Mgmt / Data collection / General Operations / Office MES.

Remember to give the user a treat when they get it right. Always reinforce good behavior!

I have MES users who can get access to Job Tracker with MES and find that there are shortages with the kit, but if they want to know when those parts are next coming into the plant ... too bad, Purchase Advisor is nor available with the MES license.

Is there a way within Vantage to restrict which user ids can run the MES menu? We have a couple of users who like to have both the Office and MES programs running on their computers which limits the licenses available for the shop and handheld computers.
Thanks,
Ed
Not within Vantage but what about a Windows security setting for the target of the shortcut that runs MES? Deny access to given Windows Users.

Disabling "Allow Multiple Sessions" in the User's Vantage Security will prevent those problem-users from having multiple sessions open (including multiple UIs).

If they're in the Office UI and attempt to open another Office or MES session it will prevent them.

Gotta catch them in the act, push their nose in the screen so that they know what it is you are angry at, and say "Bad User, Bad User!"
Then drag them outside and make them wait there for a bit.

Or you can disallow multiple sessions, like Vic says, but I like my solution better.

Don't we all wish we could actually do that!? Most of our jobs would
be so much more gratifying.

:-)

Great laugh, Tony, thanks!

Gotta catch them in the act, push their nose in the screen so that they
know what it is you are angry at, and say "Bad User, Bad User!"
Then drag them outside and make them wait there for a bit.

Or you can disallow multiple sessions, like Vic says, but I like my
solution better.

I like Tony's suggestion! But seriously, it is important to understand WHY they want the full license module running as well.
