Link a Quote to a Sales Order

Ah yes, forgot about that one. I'm traveling so sorry about the
delay. Yes - Get from quote does create a new sales order.
Instead, try the pull-down 'NEW' icon on your toolbar, and try NEW-
LINE FROM QUOTE.

Hi,

Does anyone know how to link a sales order to a quote AFTER the
sales order has been created?

Standard procedure is to create a quote first, then create a sales
order from that quote. At times, I have to enter a sales order
FIRST without a quote. Is there a way to go back and link the
quote to that order?

Some of the data needed is in the Quote and some in the Sales
Order. I need a way to establish a link between the two.

I have written a BAQ, but the quote detail and order detail data is
blank for all records not created in the conventional method (Sales
Order - Actions - Get Opportunity Quote).

We're running Vantage 8.00.810C

Thanks.

I may be wrong, but I do not think there is a way :( We have the same
situations and we try to always set up the quote first, or if we can't,
set up a blank quote and update it later. If we can't do that or forget
to, or don't know a quote will be needed, sometime we delete the SO line
and re-create it from the quote to link the 2. if it's too much later
and the job has already shipped then we manually close the quote and use
the memos. I wish there was an easier way to make the link after the
fact.

You must first create a blank (or open an existing) sales order,
assign a customer and save the record. Then go:

Actions - Get Opportunity Quote

Note that you can not grab information from a different customer

Hi Rich,

Thanks for your reply. I followed these directions: Created a new
sales order using the same customer number as the quote, but Vantage
creates a new sales order). Actions - Get Opportunity Quote seems
to create an entirely new order, regardless of the fact
that i just created one. Am I doing something wrong?

Thanks Sarah.

Great idea to set up a blank quote. That will help a lot.

Another possible alternative is custom code to load the sales order
(via adapter) and fill in the quote number on the sales order record
and save it.
