Link unfirm job back to forecast?

Rob,

Thanks for sharing... I guess I've done most of the same looking with the same result. We upload forecasts once a week or so and run MRP (full regen) every morning, so the unfirm job numbers get shuffled about every day.

I need to do some more thinking on this one, as one of our forecasting customers is make-to-stock with min/max numbers already in the system. I bet the math is going to get fun quickly.

Thanks again,

Ernie

I wish they would have inserted some sort of flag during the MRP process when these get created, but no such luck. The association is very easy to sniff out if you're building directly to a sales order, it's when you build to stock where it becomes more sticky. Dates and quantities sometimes can coincidentally match up for sales orders pulling from stock and forecast quantities so you have to be somewhat aware of this possibility. I do have a BAQ that shows this for our scheduler to use when he is firming jobs (we don't firm forecast jobs). I'd say it's about 98 - 99% accurate, but only in our make direct environment where only about 8% of our jobs are built to stock...

Once a job has been created by a forecast entry, is there any direct link between the job and the forecast? The JobProd only shows a Warehouse name, the same as if the demand is created by Min/Max stock. I know I could do it by date and qty, but I was hoping for a more direct link.

I've struggled with this a bit also, there is no direct link that I know of and I've looked long and hard.
