Linux Data Terminal

I probably ought to just can the idea seeing how we are going to
upgrade to Vantage 8 shortly, then I'll have to reinvent my data
terminal again. Thanks.

Has anyone successfully installed vantage on a Linux workstation? I
have gotten it as far as getting the client installation to run. But
I can not seem to run the actual client. Of course I realize I may be
out in left field trying to make this work, but somebody has had to
have tried this before.
I did it with some help from Adam Ellis who is on the list.

Basically you need Crossover Office from Codeweavers, www.codeweavers.com.
This is a commercial version of Wine and tweaked to run MS Office and other
prominent windows apps.

You cannot call the .mfg file directly either. This is the part Adam helped
me with.

My experience was that Vantage ran too slow.

That is about where I was at trying to run the .MFG file. Is cross

You need to run the .exe file under wine and reference the .mfg file. I
forget the exact syntax. Check the wine documentation at www.wine.org,
there may be a hint there.

I believe that the MFG file is actually a script run by progress
executable, so for it to run in Wine I'm guessing I have to convert
the MFG file into a dos command with the appropriate switches. But I
could be barking up the wriong tree any idea?

Had 5.1 working, but was extremely slow. Tried tweaks but just
didn't work well. Wine worked for other apps well, but Vantage
wasn't one of them. I don't remember the details, but it took a lot
of screwing around to get Vantage working.
