Lock Table overflow

in Ver 4 you need to adjust the 'startup.pf' file in the progress bin
folder, I usually have it set for 10000, but recently I had to put it
up for our controler so I temporarly raised it to 20,000 and he was
able to finish up with no problems.

HI,

Recently we moved to Vantage5.0 and are facing this problem with
sql92 odbc. It says 'Lock Table overflow, increase -L on the server'.
Support says it should be at 8192 in the PExplorer settings.
Anybody has a solution for this ??

Thanks
A value of 8192 makes no sense for the lock table. -L is the number of
slots in the record locking table. It would normally be some round
number like 2000 or 3500. However, each slot takes only 18 bytes of
memory, and there is no measurable performance penalty for making it
large, so try setting the number higher. Try 10,000. if that does not
work go to 15,000, and so on until you find a value that works. I have
run systems with values as high as 50,000 with out problem. Remember
that you must stop, and restart the server for the change to take
effect.
